Brazilians interested in studying at the University of Oxford, in the United Kingdom, can now carry out the selection process on national soil. Cefet-MG (Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais) was authorized to carry out the selection process in the country. It is the first Brazilian institution to apply Oxford tests.
The institution’s request for accreditation as an applying station was filed in July this year and approved in August. To this end, criteria such as physical structure, adequate computer laboratory, trained personnel for organization and conditions of care for people with disabilities were evaluated.
“Becoming a test application center at the University of Oxford will certainly have a positive impact on our internalization actions”, says Liliane Neves, coordinator of Cefet in Minas Gerais. “The institution becomes better known, expands its international competencies, allows greater training of the employees involved and opens up opportunities for the internal public to carry out tests without the need to travel to other institutions”, she continues.
According to the latest update of the QS World ranking, published in June this year, Oxford is the third best university in the world, behind MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in free translation), in the United States, and Cambridge, also on English soil. The first Brazilian on the list is USP (University of São Paulo), ranked 85th.
Brazil has a branch in Oxford, located in Rio de Janeiro. There, courses in the health area are planned to be offered from 2024 onwards. The initiative has the support of the British government and academic and scientific support from the University of Siena, in Italy, the Institute for Global Health, the International Vaccines Institute and other entities around the world.
