The hotel supports local businesses and suppliers using local products and services in their daily operations

Manaus (AM) – The Uiara Amazon Resort, located on Lake Salvador, on the right bank of the Rio Negro (Amazonas), has as its principle the adoption of initiatives related to social and corporate responsibility and community collaboration. The actions also inspire other companies to adopt similar approaches in their operations.

The Resort management is committed to actively employing and supporting the local community. “We believe that a hotel can be a catalyst for economic growth and community development. That’s why we are committed to providing meaningful and quality employment opportunities to local residents,” said Wander Areosa, CEO of Uiara.

In addition to offering jobs in various areas – such as reception, cleaning services, restaurant and maintenance – Uiara also invests in training and developing skills that will contribute to the professional success of community members.

“We are deeply committed to investing in our team and creating an inclusive and welcoming work environment,”

says Areosa.

Currently, 70% of the hotel’s staff are residents of the Paricatuba, Guedes communities and the municipality of Iranduba. People like Anilson Junior who, 9 months ago, stopped working as a bricklayer’s assistant, in Lago do Guedes, to serve tourists as a waiter at the hotel’s pool area.

“I am very happy with this opportunity to learn. When I came here I had no experience and the work I had before, on construction sites, was very heavy. Today I have more peace of mind and I want to learn even more”,

said Arilson.

The person who prepares the drinks at the bar is the “storyteller” Ingrid Mayara, who also lives close to Uiara.

“Besides making drinks, I love telling stories to tourists and they love listening. I always tell my personal experiences and stories from Amazonas. They think it’s too much to know about the lives of those who live in the Amazon. I even created the term ‘rabilux’ for my tail, to make it look more chick”,

says Ingrid.

Uiara is committed to supporting local businesses and suppliers using products and services from the region in daily operations, such as selling chocolates from the Amazon.
