Emblems were awarded free of charge to profiles of relevant people in music, sports and the press. Now, only Twitter Blue subscribers will have access to the badge. Twitter Verified Badge Twitter has begun removing the free blue verification badge that was previously distributed to notable people in music, sports, the press and other categories. The measure was first announced on March 23, with the promise of removal on April 1, which did not happen. Ten days later, the billionaire reported that the deactivation of the free verification would take place this Thursday (20). From now on, only people who buy Twitter Blue, the social network’s paid plan that costs BRL 42 per month, will be awarded the blue seal. But iPhone (iOS) and Android owners pay more for the service: R$60 per month. That’s because Twitter must pass on a subscription fee to Apple and Google. In addition to the accounts that pay for Twitter Blue, the profiles of members of the government and governmental or multilateral organizations will also continue to be verified, with a gray seal, as is the case with the profile of President Lula, for example. Companies and non-governmental organizations receive the gold color seal and have to pay. But Twitter will let them approve the badge extension for affiliated profiles themselves.
