Justice subpoenaed Telegram this Thursday (20) and gave the platform 24 hours to pass on data from groups and people suspected of planning attacks on schools under penalty of suspending the service in Brazil. The deadline ends this Friday (21). The request was made by the Federal Police (PF), which claims that Telegram would be refusing to pass on data and information that would help in identifying these groups. The PF claims that the request was made “for security reasons”. The requested information is from groups, including neo-Nazis, that would be promoting hatred and encouraging children to commit violent acts in schools. The request was granted by the Federal Court of Espírito Santo this Wednesday (19). However, the deadline only comes into effect after the subpoena, which was made this Thursday (20).
