The news that Amapá is home to the largest forest park on the planet has reached the world since 2002, triggering an unprecedented ripple effect, the so-called spontaneous media, with people from all over the world wanting to know more – and wanting to visit – the Tumucumaque Mountains National Park , most of which is in Amapá territory.
For some time now, this has become possible to do. With actions that aim to optimize the public use of the Park, valuing conservation and opening space for generating employment and income through ecological tourism.
The unit’s team, together with nearby community members, carry out various actions in the field of signage and trail maintenance. The trails have moderate to very difficult access levels. Initially, the Copaíba Trail, located at the Jupará base, was signposted. Visitors will be able to travel a distance of 2.2 kilometers and will be able to enjoy Corredeira do Jenipapo, located on the Felício River.
Contemplation – Tourists will be able to enjoy the rapids and floodplain vegetation, riparian forests, forests, with the possibility of seeing wild animals and several species of trees unique to the Amazon (such as copaíba, andiroba, angelim, among others), providing an experience unique for those who like to venture into nature. The trails have few interventions and a high degree of rusticity and the signage is in accordance with the National Trail Signage System in Conservation Units of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).
