The Corregidor General of Electoral Justice, Minister Benedito Gonçalves, presented this Wednesday (9) an authorization request to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to collect testimony from former Minister Anderson Torres. Moraes’ authorization is necessary because the former minister is in preventive detention, determined by the minister.

The objective of the hearing is to search for information about the draft decree that was supposedly to be signed by then-president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to establish a state of defense at the headquarters of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and try to invalidate the result of the 2022 presidential elections. .

Gonçalves designated March 16, at 10 am, for the deposition. In the request, he also mentions Torres’ participation in a live held by former President Bolsonaro in which he raises doubts about the Brazilian electoral system.

The TSE opened an investigation against Bolsonaro, in January this year, for abuse of political power and misuse of the media. The action is in the evidence collection phase. Testimonies have already been heard from former ministers, such as Ciro Nogueira (Casa Civil) and Carlos França (Itamaraty).
