A technical report from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) points out that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) campaign did not declare the donations from artists it would have received for the “super live” held in the final stretch of the first round of the 2022 election. , according to information obtained by Folha de São Paulo.

The document was requested by the Minister-Inspector of the TSE, Benedito Gonçalves, within a lawsuit filed by the campaign of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who accuses his opponent of abuse of economic power and slush money for the lack of information in the provision of accounts.

For Bolsonaro’s campaign lawyers, the artists’ participation would amount to an estimated donation, due to the fees normally charged for presentations and, therefore, should be included in the rendering of accounts. According to Folha’s investigation, Lula’s campaign recorded only expenses with the organization of the event, in the amount of R$ 1.06 million, paid to two specialized companies.

The defense of Lula’s campaign stated that the accusations are “simple non-conformity regarding the spontaneous support of artists to the then winning candidacy”. The event, held on September 26, was attended by intellectuals and artists in defense of the useful vote to elect him in the first round, such as philosopher Silvio Almeida, singers Chico Buarque and Daniela Mercury, among others.
