The Amapá Court promoted, on Monday morning (4), a meeting with the elderly protection network to discuss the creation of public policies for the elderly. The meeting, organized by the Substitute Ombudsman and Women’s Ombudsman of the Court of Justice of Amapá (TJAP), judge Elayne Cantuária, decided to create an Interinstitutional Committee that will work on the construction of a State Plan to protect elderly people.
“We had the idea of integrating all the bodies whose institutional mission is to protect the rights of the elderly, so that we can, through this integrated network, address policies relating to the elderly. So, from this initial contact, we will begin joint and collective negotiations so that the Amapá state can have a policy that will be strengthened with the union of all these bodies”said magistrate Elayne Cantuária.
The Secretary of State for Social Assistance, Aline Gurgel, who participated in the meeting, explains that with the creation of a Working Group, composed of the bodies of the Protection Network, it will be possible to build public policies aimed at the elderly and work on reformulating the Statute of State Elderly Person.
“The Women’s coordinator was present at the meeting because Resolution 520/2023 of the National Council of Justice, which creates judicial policy to assist elderly people, includes elderly victims of domestic and family violence. We present our projects here and we will carry out a survey of the demands involving elderly people with the Judiciary, so that at the next meeting we can bring the statistical data”said the secretary of the TJAP Women’s Coordination, Sônia Ribeiro.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the State Public Ministry, Council for the Elderly, State Secretariat of Social Assistance (SEAS), Abrigo São José, Federal University of Amapá (Unifap) and State University of Amapá (UEAP). The group’s next meeting will take place in January 2024, with the presentation and evaluation of the State Plan.
