The undersigned and OAB press for the sanction of the Cannabis PL – 01/28/2023 – Cannabis Inc.

At the end of December (21), Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo) approved PL 1,180/2019, which regulates the supply of medicinal products derived from Cannabis by the SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde). For the project to become law, the sanction of the newly elected governor Tarcísio de Freitas, an ally of former president Jair Bolsonaro, is still missing.

To put pressure on the conservative base and sensitize the population, which was against the regulation of laws that facilitate access to therapeutic extracts, such as CBD oil (Cannabidiol), the base of deputy Caio França (PSB-SP), one of the authors of the PL in question, launched a petition in favor of sanctioning the project, which already has 39,452 people.

The OAB SP (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil Sectional São Paulo) published a letter of support for the sanction of the bill in question. According to the entity, “the approval of this project represents the maturing of the discussion around the theme, especially by breaking paradigms and prejudices around the medicinal use of products and medicines derived from cannabis”.

The OAB recognizes the importance of the approval of the law by the governor, as it expands “access to this therapeutic possibility, benefiting thousands of people from São Paulo”. And he still emphasizes “the non-existence of reasons for veto”.
