Brazil registers 24 deaths and 3,641 cases of Covid in 24 hours – 01/28/2023 – Health

Brazil recorded 24 deaths from Covid and 3,641 cases of the disease this Saturday (28). With that, the country reaches 696,809 deaths and 36,809,608 registered cases of Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The moving average of deaths is flat from two weeks ago at 70 (5% change). The moving average of cases showed a variation of -43% in relation to the data of the previous fifteen days, reaching 10,942.

The statistical resource that seeks to mitigate variations in the data, such as those that usually happen on weekends and holidays, is calculated by adding the deaths in the last seven days and dividing the result by seven.

The data for the country, collected until 8 pm, are the result of a collaboration between SheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and publish figures related to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The information is collected daily by the consortium of press vehicles with the state Health Secretariats.

The consortium of press vehicles stopped updating the numbers of those vaccinated against Covid-19 on weekends and holidays. On working days, the data will be updated normally. The measure aims to avoid inaccuracies in the numbers reported to the reader.

The change is due to problems in consolidating vaccination data by state secretariats. Seven states no longer update the total number of people vaccinated on weekends and holidays, and even those that do sometimes report outdated numbers, which do not correspond to reality and are usually corrected in the following days.

There is no change in the balance of cases and deaths from the coronavirus, which will continue to be published by vehicles every day at 8 pm.

The initiative by the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the actions of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and removed information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of total cases and deaths.
