The Brazilian Navy will open a public competition for the training course for musical sergeants in the Marine Corps. The notice with the rules was published this Thursday (29). Registration begins on April 3rd and will run until May 15th.

There will be 15 mid-level vacancies for admission to the musician sergeant training course in 2025. The starting salary is R$1,414.82 during the course and, upon completion, it will be R$6,234.75.

The vacancies offered for the sergeant course are for the following instruments:

  • Clarinet in Bb, with 3 places
  • Alto saxophone in Eb, with 1 place
  • Baritone saxophone in Eb, with 1 place
  • Trumpet in Bb, with 2 places
  • Horn in F, with 2 places
  • Trombone-tenor in C, with 2 places
  • Eufonium, with 2 spaces
  • Timpani, with 1 space
  • Harp, with 1 place

The competition will have a specific music test, of an eliminatory and classificatory nature, with 25 objective multiple-choice questions related to chords, history and composers of Brazilian hymns, harmonic series and other topics related to music.

The course lasts around 18 weeks and is held at the Almirante Sylvio de Camargo Instruction Center, in Rio de Janeiro. Those approved receive a uniform, food and the right to medical, dental, psychological, social and religious assistance.

After completing the course, the successful candidate will be hired at the position of 3rd sergeant, and the total salary will increase to R$6,234.75.

To participate in the competition, you must be between 18 and 25 years old by June 30, 2025 and have completed high school. In addition, you must be up to date with your military and electoral obligations.
