The hasty questions to Luís Castro in the ordeal of Botafogo
[ad_1]
A year ago, when the American investor John Textor took control of SAF-Botafogo, dismantling the existing structure and hiring Brazilians who had been unsuccessful in European football, I warned of the fact that before radicalizing he should get to know better the “ground of factory”.
The intention was not to condemn the model or criticize the wealthy businessman who rescued the club from rock bottom.
None of that.
But alert to the risk of abrupt transformation, selling the impression of a new reality that still does not exist.
As if by magic they disappeared with the debt that visited the billion reais house.
The model renewed the expectations of fans, revamped the institution’s relationship with the market, but there were no expected advances.
I mean, it went as far as a club that was in debt, poorly equipped and with weakened base categories could walk.
Botafogo is being rebuilt, not reinforced as many imagine.
It is illusory, therefore, to believe that with such a glorious past, it would be enough for the depleted alvinegro to invest in buying a bunch of average players.
No – not so.
It is necessary to be physically and economically structured to offer working conditions minimally similar to those that reinforcements had in Europe.
As one of those Portuguese coaches who came to Brazil said, “football is divided into parts, and each part has its parts”…
The team is not out of the final quadrangular of the State because Luís Castro played poorly, or because his game system is bad.
Even less so because he was incompetent.
The Botafogo team left something to be desired because the money invested was not enough to solve the club’s problems in time to have the desired effect.
There was a delay in the discharge of some commitments, the work structure is not yet as desired and the return of the injured does not occur in the ideal time.
You have to hold the stick firmly, don’t let the turbulence knock you down and follow the flight plan.
Blaming the coach who has already shown the ability and competence to build competitive systems is a colossal mistake…
