Teams from Amapá win the International Volleyball Tournament – News of Brazil

With the support of the State Government, Amapá hosted the International Volleyball Tournament over the weekend, which received teams from Amapá, Pará and French Guiana. The matches were held at Ginásio Avertino Ramos, in Macapá. Train, in the female category, and Alvorada, in the male category, were the great champions.
The competition, which ended on Sunday (16), brought together 12 teams, with representatives from French Guiana, from the municipality of Afuá, in Pará, and from Oiapoque, Santana and Macapá, on the side of Amapá.
Despite the presence of teams from French Guiana and Afuá. The titles, in both categories, went to the teams from Macapá. Trem won by 2 sets to 1, and Alvorada defeated Oiapoque by 2 sets to 0.
The captain of the Alvorada team, Ronaldo Rodrigues, spoke about the importance of promoting more competitions like this one, especially to include Amapá in the modality’s events calendar, in addition to providing new experiences to the athletes.
“I’m very happy for the title and also for seeing a great competition, with the presence of several teams, not only from Macapá, and which was also well organized. It is these types of tournaments that we need to be held more often so that our volleyball grows even more”, said the player.
The International Volleyball Tournament was held by the Independent Volleyball League, in partnership with the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel), which provided support with accommodation for the French Guiana teams and the awarding of champions.
“The Government of Amapá has sought to promote and support various modalities. We are looking fondly at volleyball, which is a traditional sport in the state, but which needs to be encouraged in the municipalities. We are already planning the second edition so that teams from other municipalities can participate”, said Sedel’s secretary, Rudney Cunha.
