Manaus (AM) – Professors Suzana Araújo and Marcos Roberto, dos Santos, from the Escola Normal Superior da Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (ENS/UEA), and professor Megara Barbosa, from the Secretariat of Education and School Sports (Seduc), launch two books generated with grant from the Amazonas State Research Support Foundation (Fapeam). Volumes 6 and 7 of the comics will be launched on November 30th, at 6pm, at Casarão de Ideias, on Rua Barroso, 279, Centro.

Since 2014, the works have competed in the Support Program for the Popularization of Science, Technology and Innovation (POP), a specific notice for the Science and Technology Week (SNTC) that has produced comic books, a playful and interactive material, being used by teachers, in an inter/transdisciplinary way, in the process of building teaching and learning.

The comics were created by a multidisciplinary team of professionals, teachers and students from UEA, teachers from the State Department of Education and School Sports and the Manaus Municipal Department of Education (Semed), with experience in producing teaching material. It also had a partnership with the Educational Center for Technology and Robotics of the Municipality of Maués (276 kilometers from Manaus) and the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation of Tefé (523 kilometers from the capital).

About the comics – This year, SNCT had as its theme “Basic sciences applied to sustainable development in the Amazon” and the two comics Ian – Festa do guaraná in Maués, volume 6, and Ian – Festa da Castanha, in Tefé , volume 7. The two titles aimed to present to the reader the productive and sustainable chains that characterize the identity aspects of the municipalities of Maués and Tefé.

In view of this, this material consists of the need for scientific dissemination on regional themes, which gain a new perspective from the Theory of Multimodality, as it involves several semioses of language that come into action, simultaneously, to produce meaning, such as: the written verbal text; the static and moving image; the colors; the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras); links and QRCodes, which allows for greater proximity to your target audience: children, young people and adults. The book also contributes to the dissemination of Libras in the classroom, for the inclusion of deaf people and interaction with non-deaf people.

The printed material is financed by Fapeam and distributed to students and teachers in the public education network during the 20th National Science and Technology Week in the municipalities of Maués and Tefé. But it can be found online at: repositorioinstitucional.uea.edu.br
