Teachers ask for psychologist in management consultation Tarcísio – 04/10/2023 – Panel

The Tarcísio de Freitas government (Republicans) sent a questionnaire by e-mail to teachers, directors and other professionals of the state education network in which it asks which actions they consider priority to combat attacks on schools in São Paulo.

On March 27, a teacher at a state school in São Paulo was murdered in one of these attacks. According to Renato Feder, state secretary of Education, the government received more than 20,000 responses until last week and should close the balance by Friday (14). The answers, he says, will help management define which problem to tackle first and with what intensity.

The questionnaire (housed in the Google Forms system) presents different options to professionals and asks which ones they think are most important, thus allowing the government to draw up a ranking of preferences.

Among the possibilities are hiring psychologists for schools, increasing the number of teachers, hiring unarmed private security and reinforcing content related to mental health in disciplines.

Feder states that the presence of psychologists is identified as the main priority for teachers in the partial balance sheets.

“We don’t want to make any frivolous announcements, but consistent announcements. The psychologist’s question, for example: how many will be hired, how will they be hired, what quality will be required, what will they do, what will be the visiting schedule? We are talking with the network to be able to take an effective attitude”, says the secretary.

The original idea of ​​contracting 150,000 hours of psychological care, announced shortly after the attack in Vila Sônia, should be expanded, adds Feder, who says that the number has not yet been defined.
