Taboão prosecutor’s office requests hospitalization of attacker – 03/31/2023 – Education

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Taboão da Serra requested the compulsory hospitalization of the 13-year-old teenager, who stabbed and stabbed a teacher to death on Monday (27), for allegedly committing offenses while he was studying at another school unit.

What the teenager would have done was not informed by the prosecution because the case is secret from Justice. The request for compulsory hospitalization was made this Thursday (30), despite a first complaint having reached the agency on February 28. The case was forwarded to the São Paulo Court of Justice.

The minor is already provisionally hospitalized because of the attack.

As shown by Sheetbefore attacking the Thomazia Montoro school, in Vila Sônia, west of the capital, the boy had already threatened to attack another school he studied at the beginning of the year.

The threat was made when he was at the José Roberto Pacheco state school, in Taboão da Serra, in Greater São Paulo, on February 28 of this year. That same day, an employee of the unit filed a police report reporting the young man’s suspicious behavior on social media and also contacted the Tutelary Council and the prosecution.

On that occasion, a prosecutor determined on March 1 that a psychological assessment be made of him, an informal hearing with him and that the school present a report on the measures adopted in relation to the student.

However, none of the determinations were fulfilled, since on the same day the student’s father requested the transfer of the school unit. On March 6, the Tutelary Council informed the Public Ministry of the change of residence of the teenager’s family and, therefore, the case was transferred from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Taboão da Serra to São Paulo.

The prosecution did not say why it was only this Thursday that it considered that the infractions committed by the student before the attack justified the request for compulsory hospitalization.

THE ATTACK

On Monday morning (27), an eighth grade elementary school student stabbed teacher Elisabeth Tenreiro, 71, to death.

Security cameras recorded the attack. The teenager wore a skull mask, ran into the classroom and started on top of Elisabeth, who was standing.

The teacher, who did not notice the student approaching, was hit in the back and fell to the ground. In desperation, students tried to leave the room, and some were attacked by the student.

A second video shows the teenager hitting another teacher. He strikes several blows at the woman, who is standing and trying to protect herself with her arms. Two women enter the room, and one of them manages to immobilize the teenager, while the other removes the knife from his hands.

Also on Monday (27), after the attack, the state secretary of Education, Renato Feder, said that the Thomazia Montoro school “was caught off guard”. “During this period of permanence, the principal did not receive any warning or [teve] science of nothing that drew attention.”

On Tuesday night (28), Justice determined the provisional hospitalization of the teenager.
