Tabata wants to prohibit Sabesp from taxing houses without sewage – 03/26/2023 – Panel

Federal deputy Tabata Amaral (PSB-SP) filed a public civil action and sued Procon against Sabesp with the request that the São Paulo sanitation company be prohibited from charging sewage fees to people who live in houses without connection to the collection network in capital.

In the action, the parliamentarian says that while visiting the favela of Vietnam, in Jabaquara, in the south zone of São Paulo, she witnessed that the community lives with open sewage and even so receives tariffs from Sabesp, which, she defends, it is abusive and illegal.

The deputy also asks that Sabesp be condemned to indemnify the residents of the favela in Vietnam, refunding double the amounts already paid by them. In case of non-compliance, a daily fine of BRL 200,000 is suggested.

The pessebist is appointed as a likely candidate for São Paulo City Hall next year and has intensified her actions in the city and state. She should face Ricardo Nunes (MDB), Ricardo Salles (PL) and Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) in 2024.
