Suspended after posting about Lula, Wallace gets an injunction to play

Suspended by the Ethics Council of the COB (Olympic Committee of Brazil) for 90 days, he obtained an injunction in the STJD of the modality (Superior Court of Sports Justice) paralyzing the punishment until the judgment of the merit of the presented appeal.

There is no set date for this to happen.

He has been away from the sport since February after posting a photo on his Instagram account in a shooting range. When opening for questions from followers, one of them questioned whether the athlete would use a gun to shoot President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the face. Voter of ex-president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Wallace asked: “would someone do that?”, with a poll that had the alternatives yes and no.

Hours later, he posted a video apologizing.

In the request for an injunction, the opponent and his team, Sada / Cruzeiro, claimed that the suspension was interpreted illegally by the CBV (Brazilian Volleyball Confederation).

The president of the STJD, Eduardo Affonso de Santis Mendes de Farias Mello, agreed with the argument.

Unless the judgment takes place by the end of the week, Wallace will be able to play against São José, at 9 pm this Saturday (15).

The COB says it has not yet been informed of the decision.

Wallace had also been denounced at the STJD, but the case was closed due to the assessment that there was no relationship between the post and the sport.

The COB also suspended the athlete for one year from being called up to the Brazilian national team, but he had already announced that he no longer wanted to be called up. The hook answered the request of the AGU (Advocacia Geral da União) to punish the player. There had also been requests with a fine of R$ 100,000 and banishment from Olympic sport.
