BTS member, South Korean rapper Min Yoongi, known by the stage names Suga and Agust D, celebrated his 30th birthday this Thursday (9) by making a donation of 100 million won (R$ 390.5 thousand) Turkey and Syria, countries that were affected by a devastating earthquake on February 6th. The tremor caused more than 50,000 deaths.

The amount was directed to the Save the Children institution, dedicated to supporting children. In the case in question, the campaign aims to deliver blankets, mattresses, school supplies, among other items of basic needs, in the affected regions.

“BTS member Suga has donated 100 million won to emergency relief in Turkey and Syria after severe damage caused by a record earthquake,” the NGO said.

In a statement, the artist highlighted the significant number of “children and families” who “suffered great damage”.

“I send my condolences to the survivors and victims. I hope this becomes at least a little bit of help for the children affected by the earthquake and I hope this [doação] be used to provide relief goods for children,” he added.

Suga has donated on his birthday throughout his career, helping wildfire victims, pediatric cancer patients, COVID-19 prevention efforts, and more over the years.

Entertainment conglomerate HYBE, which owns the agency that manages BTS, has already donated 500 million won to Save the Children. BTS members J-Hope and Jimin also made individual donations of 100 million each to the UNICEF Korean Committee.
