Conference addresses the importance and future of the 2nd largest air conditioning manufacturing hub in the world, located in the Manaus Industrial Complex

Manaus (AM) – The importance and future of the 2nd largest air conditioning manufacturing hub in the world are under debate during the conference promoted by the National Association of Manufacturers of Electronic Products (Eletros) and hosted at Suframa, this Thursday (26) and Friday ( 27).

At the opening ceremony, the superintendent’s superintendent, Bosco Saraiva, highlighted that Suframa always seeks to be alongside the productive sector and stressed that the event is evidence of the attractiveness of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM).

“We see here a clear demonstration that the Manaus Free Trade Zone continues to be a successful project, which today welcomes around 65 businesspeople from all over Brazil who work in the air conditioning sector”,

observed.

The executive president of Eletros, José Jorge do Nascimento Júnior, highlighted numbers from the sector based in Manaus, which in global terms is second only to China, in terms of group of companies and in production volume.

“There are 13 factories installed, including major multinational and national brands, with an average annual production of 4.5 million units. Of the more than one hundred thousand jobs in the Manaus Industrial Complex (PIM), ten thousand direct jobs and 35 thousand indirect jobs are generated with air conditioning alone. Furthermore, air conditioning alone accounts for 8% of PIM’s revenue,”

explained the executive.

The president of Eletros also highlighted the importance and quality of Amazonian labor. “We have one of the best and largest skilled workforces in Brazil, here at the Manaus Industrial Complex. An air conditioner is manufactured every 15, 17 seconds in Manaus. And that’s an impressive benchmark. We can only do this because of Amazonense. Qualified, with his own skills, but also qualified by the investments made by the industry”, he highlighted.

The governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, stated that holding the event hosted at Suframa is a demonstration of the commitment to ZFM, a topic that the country still needs to know better.

“Brazil needs to understand that those who live in the Amazon are just as Brazilian as those who were born elsewhere in the country. And with poverty there is no way to discuss the protection of natural resources. Therefore, we defend the maintenance of the ZFM, as it represents 70% of the State’s economic activity. And when we promote other economic matrices such as natural gas and potassium, we are thinking about complementing and not replacing the ZFM. There is no other activity that can generate what ZFM generated in 2022, around R$170 billion”,

highlighted.

The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, highlighted that the city is grateful for the event and for the investments made by the productive sector. “I usually thank everyone who invests in Manaus because each job created is reflected in the environmental preservation of the Amazon,” he noted.

Schedule

During the Eletros event, topics such as environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, industrial policy and measures to strengthen the sector will be discussed. One of the panels, for example, will debate suggestions for the Basic Production Process that regulates the sector. In addition to the discussions, there will also be technical visits to some air conditioning factories based at PIM.
