Students gave the first presentation of the Project’s videos, “Light, Camera, Awareness”
Manaus (AM) – Cine Silvino Santos, located at the Centro Cultural dos Povos da Amazônia (Ccpa), was the stage for the first presentation of the Project’s videos, “Light, Camera, Conscientization”, a partnership of the State Department of Education and School Sports, through from the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (Sbpc) and the Science at School Program (PCE), from the Amazonas State Research Support Foundation (Fapeam).
The videos were created by students from Escola Estadual (EE) Nathália Uchôa, in Japiim, South Zone of Manaus, as an incentive to train multipliers on the practice of sustainable development, through research, video production and creative actions, addressing topics current issues such as inclusion, recycling, health and sustainability.
According to the art teacher and coordinator of the action, Denise Gomes, the project was of great importance for the school community.
“This theme of Environmental Education cannot become a fad, it needs to be a lifestyle adopted by every citizen, especially for us, who are Amazonians”,
explained the coordinator.
For six months, the project benefited around 56 elementary and high school students, who participated in workshops on Environmental Education, actively adopting habits capable of promoting the reuse and recycling of solid waste, as well as the conscious consumption of water, ensuring the sustainability of the Amazon, through environmental preservation.
The audiovisual production workshops were carried out in partnership with students from the Public Relations Course at the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam). In addition to the script and video creation workshops, the students participated in lighting, production and finishing workshops.
The student, Mateus Henrique Portela, 14 years old, in the 9th year, pointed out that the project enabled students to think about the future while being aware.
“It was a new experience, like cinema and sustainability objectives. I didn’t have that awareness. I developed this sense of responsibility after the project,”
explained the student.
SDG
One of the project’s intentions is to work to inform and disseminate the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), being a global call to end poverty and protect the environment and climate.
The students’ videos were produced based on SDG 3: health and well-being; SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education and SDG 12: ensure responsible production and sustainable consumption patterns.
