Student and his mother are suspected of attacking teacher – 10/19/2023 – Education

A 17-year-old student and his mother are suspected of having attacked a teacher with slaps and kicks at the Donizetti Aparecido Leite State School, in Embu Guaçu, Greater São Paulo.

The case happened on Tuesday (17) and was recorded by a school camera. The video shows the teacher leaving the principal’s office, and the student’s mother approaching. The argument begins, and the mother puts her finger close to the teacher’s face, who pushes her away with her arm and walks away in another direction.

The student’s mother follows her, pulls her by her blouse and starts slapping her face. The two fall to the floor, a boy enters between them to try to defend the teacher and, meanwhile, the 17-year-old student, standing, starts kicking her. He kicks him three times until he is stopped by other people who were at the scene. The report had access to the video.

The case was registered at the city police station. The teacher told the report that the student has a history of aggression.

According to her, there are episodes of violence at school involving other students. The teacher cited a case in which another teacher was punched in the breasts when trying to break up a fight between two girls.

The São Paulo Department of Education said that the case was registered in a police report, and that it repudiates all forms of violence. He also stated that a team will go to the school next week to provide support to professionals and discuss strategies to resolve coexistence problems in the unit.

The teacher stated that Tuesday’s argument began because the young man was kissing his girlfriend inside the classroom. She said she asked them to stop and was then called a “slut” by the student. The teacher stated that she was nervous about the situation and, in response, said “only if it’s your mother”. The boy heard and informed his mother, who went to the school to find out.

The teacher stated that she has a black eye, grated arms and bruises on her legs and back. She said that she is feeling pain and that she had panic syndrome when she had to leave the house on Wednesday (18) to take a medical examination. She is on sick leave for a week, but said she will ask for an extension because she is afraid to return.

A Sheet was unable to locate the student’s mother.

A group of teachers wrote a letter warning about “repeated cases of violence in the school environment” and the “lack of restraint or prompt response from the competent authorities”. The document is addressed to the Department of Education, the region’s Department of Education, the Department of Security and the Guardianship Council.

For this Friday (20), a demonstration is scheduled at the school.
