Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), said, in a session broadcast live this Thursday (23), that Palmeiras does not have a title in the Club World Cup.
Declared Corinthian, the jurist joked with colleague Dias Toffoli, a fan of the alviverde team, during a court session that discussed the use of Russian applications in Brazil — such as Telegram, quoted shortly before the statement.
Moraes spoke about Palmeiras when citing the end of the partnership between Corinthians and MSI, which had indications of involvement of Russian tycoon Boris Berezovscky.
“After that tragic event between Corinthians and Russia, we expelled the Russians from Corinthians and, afterwards, we were champions twice more in the Brazilian Championship and once in the World Cup, in 2012, [título] that Palmeiras does not have, unfortunately, a minister Toffoli”, said the minister.
In that session, the ministers decided, by unanimous vote, that Brazilian authorities can request confidential user data directly from representatives in the country of large technology companies, such as Facebook and Google.
The STF analyzed whether requests for information should be made through international cooperation or whether they could be addressed directly to company representatives in Brazil, and understood that both options are possible.
In practice, direct requests to company representatives increase the authorities’ ability to obtain the desired data, since international cooperation takes longer to process and big tech headquarters abroad have the means to delay or even not respond to requests.
