Eight ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) voted against the complaint by the Association of Victims and Families of Victims of Covid-19 (Avico) of holding former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) responsible for the deaths caused by the disease and for lack of actions against the pandemic. In the judgment carried out last week, the ministers rejected the allegation that the Public Ministry has been inert in the investigation of the presidential conduct.

The rapporteur for the action, Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, said that the Attorney General’s Office “acted and continues to take steps in various judicial actions, in the investigation of the practice of alleged illicit acts and the same events described in the exordial on screen”, recovered from the previous decision.

Barroso’s vote was accompanied by ministers André Mendonça, Ricardo Lewandowski, Dias Toffoli, Alexandre de Moraes, Gilmar Mendes, Luiz Fux, Nunes Marques and Rosa Weber.
