Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), granted this Thursday (28) the provisional freedom of 12 people who were arrested in flagrante delicto on January 9 when they were camped in front of barracks in Rio Branco, in Acre, and Belém, in Pará. The arrests took place the day after the acts of January 8 that culminated in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.

With the decision, prisoners will comply with precautionary measures such as the use of electronic anklets and a ban on leaving their cities.

Moraes stated, in the decision, that the initial diligences carried out did not find evidence of evidential connection with the investigations carried out in the case, “so that the permanence of the investigation related to these people in the records that are being processed in the Supreme Court is not justified”, he wrote.

According to the STF, the Federal Police arrested 2,151 people for participating in the acts and they were camped in front of the barracks. Of these, 745 were released immediately after identification, such as those over 70 years old, those aged between 60 and 70 years old with comorbidities and about 50 women who had children under 12 years old at the acts.

Of the 1,406 who remained in prison, 181 men and 82 women remain in prison, totaling 263 people. However, 4 women and 40 men were arrested for facts related to the 8th, after the 9th of January, in various police operations.
