Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), granted this Thursday (2) the provisional freedom of another 52 people denounced for alleged involvement in the acts of January 8, which culminated in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasilia.

This group of people was arrested on January 9 in the camp set up in front of the Army Headquarters, in Brasília.

In the dispatch, the minister considered that the investigations did not name them as the main financiers or executors. “These defendants can respond freely through a series of precautionary measures, such as house arrest at night and on weekends using an electronic anklet, in addition to passport cancellation and suspension of carrying a firearm,” wrote Moraes.

In analyzing the cases, the minister assessed that most of them are first offenders and have underage children, in addition to having already been denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for “incitement to crime and criminal association”. According to the rules of the STF, the defendants were notified to present a prior defense within 15 days.

Still in the decision, Moraes determines that those involved will have to appear within 24 hours in the districts where they live. Currently, there are still 751 people arrested for alleged involvement in the acts of January 8, and another 655 have been released to respond in freedom with precautionary measures.

In addition to presenting themselves to the district court of the places where they live, people who had their provisional freedom granted this Thursday (2) are prohibited from using social networks, will be monitored by an electronic anklet and will have to hand over their passports to the authorities – they are prohibited from Leave the country.
