Minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), allowed access to the President of the Federal Audit Court (TCU), Minister Bruno Dantas, to the messages exchanged within the scope of Operation Spoofing. The investigation studies the invasion of cell phones of authorities and people related to the Lava Jato operation on Telegram. The messages were released by intercept Brazilin 2019.

Toffoli determined that the Justice of the Federal District guarantee Dantas access to the material, in a decision taken last Friday, the 14th. The content of confidential documents will be preserved. The TCU president says he was mentioned in conversations between members of Operation Lava Jato after criticizing a decision taken by former judge Sérgio Moro, now a senator (União Brasil-PR). Moro prevented the Revenue, TCU and other bodies from using evidence collected in the operation.

According to Dantas, the messages would demonstrate the intention of eroding his image with the media and public opinion. In the request to the STF, Dantas stated that the context and extent of these conversations could only be known with access to the full text of the messages. The sharing aims to safeguard their rights and, eventually, require investigative steps or sue those involved civilly and criminally, he told the Supreme Court.

When examining the case, Toffoli said that he has already allowed access to information from Operation Spoofing to various official bodies, such as the TCU, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), the Advocacy General of the Union (AGU) and the Federal Revenue Service. “Requests in the same sense have been granted by this Supreme Court”, stated Toffoli.
