State School wins for the 2nd consecutive time the state stage of the Jovem Senador program

In Amazonas, the project had 66 participating schools and more than 3,100 essays submitted

Manaus (AM) – The state stage of the Jovem Senador program came to an end with the victory of student Hagnes Rodrigues, from the State School (EE) Profº Ruy Alencar, in the north of Manaus. The student qualified for the national stage of the initiative, which takes place in August, when 27 students from all over the country will spend a week in Brasília, in total immersion in the routine of a congressman in the Federal Senate.

The project works through a writing contest, of the essay-argumentative type, the same used in the National High School Examination (Enem). With the theme “Mental health in public schools”, the initiative had more than 3,100 participants in Amazonas.

“I think mental health is letting go of the things that make you sick and that’s how I wrote my text. It is the first time that I participate in an initiative as big as this one. I was extremely happy with the result. It was all very fruitful, because I trained a lot in writing the essay that I will use in the Enem”,

highlighted the winner of the program, Hagnes Rodrigues.

Present at the closing ceremony of the state stage, the Secretary of State for Education and School Sports, Kuka Chaves, pointed out that the program is greatly encouraged by teachers from the state network.

“This initiative has a very good characteristic, which is that it encourages, through newsrooms, reflection on very relevant political and social issues. Seeing the creativity, preparation, discernment of these students is very charming. The program is of great educational nature”,

EE Prof Ruy Alencar won the state stage of the Jovem Senador program for the second consecutive time. In 2022, student Esthefane Feitosa had won with the essay “200 years of Independence: lessons from history for building tomorrow”, under the guidance of professor Elianai Castro.

The teacher was also responsible for guiding Hagnes and told about the process he develops with his students, so that they are as applied to the practice of writing.

“In my classes, student participation is 100%. We see it as a way of also preparing them for the entrance exam. They bring me the newsroom and we polish it, day after day. The wording of Hagnes, for example, was changed the day before delivery. It’s a work of improvement”,
