The collegiate analyzes the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) 9/23, which prevents punishments for political parties that fail to comply with the minimum gender and race quotas in the 2022 elections. Due to lack of agreement, the president of the special commission, deputy Diego Coronel (PSD-BA), called a new meeting for this Wednesday (27), at 2:30 pm, informed the Chamber Agency.
The announcement was made after Psol deputies announced their intention to obstruct the vote on the matter. “I reinforce the call not to vote on the PEC today and to have a broader debate with society, because this amnesty is terrible for the democratization of spaces of power in parliament”, said deputy Guilherme Boulos (Psol-SP ).
For the proposal to be valid in the next municipal elections, it needs to be approved by the Federal Senate, in two rounds, by October 6, one year before the 2024 election. Last week, the collegiate had finalized the discussion on the opinion . However, at the request of the rapporteur, the board decided to postpone the vote until this Tuesday (26). After the special commission, the text must be analyzed by the plenary.
