SP hosts third edition of the Cheese World Cup in April – 04/08/2024 – Food

The western region of São Paulo hosts the third edition of the Cheese World Championship, between the 11th and 14th of April, at the B32 theater, on Avenida Faria Lima. The event, which takes place in Brazil every two years, has programs aimed at professionals in the dairy sector, traders, chefs and end consumers.
Promoted by SerTãoBras, a Brazilian association of artisanal cheese producers, and carried out in partnership with the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers, one of the largest cheesemakers associations in the world, the program features three national competitions (Best Cheesemaker in Brazil, Best Cheesemaker in Brazil and Best Fondue do Brasil) and an international one (Cheese and Dairy Products Competition).
According to the organizers, this year, the global competition category expects to receive around 2,000 participating items, such as cheeses, yogurts, sweet milk and curds. The winners will be announced on Friday (12) evening.
Among the attractions, there are also musical shows and a fair selling artisanal cheeses, drinks and food. More than 100 producers are expected at the stands that will be located outside the theater. There are options made with cow, goat, sheep and buffalo milk, in fresh and cured varieties (in maturation chambers or underground caves), for example. The public has free access.
The agenda also includes technical activities and features conferences, lectures, a mini-course with an expert, as well as tastings discussed in the Via Láctea program. Attraction times and registration forms are available on the website.
The Cheese World Cup in Brazil had its first edition in 2019, in Araxá (MG), and has taken place alternately with the Tours edition, in France, since then. Laurent Dubois, Dominique Bouchait and Arnaud Sperat Czar are some of the names already confirmed as judges for the competitions.
