A public school student and resident of Serra, in Greater Vitória, the young man is a cashier and took the test for the fourth time in 2022. “I’m going to try medicine this year and, God willing, I’m going to succeed. I feel happy and surprised because I myself I didn’t think I was going to get this grade. As soon as I left the exam room, I didn’t think it would be that much. I dreamed of this grade in 2019 and told my colleagues ‘I’m going to get 940’. I didn’t get it that year, but now, almost 4 years later I got it”, said Venâncio. The young man also recalled how it was to reconcile the routine of work and studies to achieve his goal. “I got home at 11 pm and the next day I had to wake up early. Then I left work and went to the course. It was very tiring, but then I started to get used to it”, said Venâncio. Thank God the other one is already trained and employed. I said: ‘go ahead my son, the whatever I can do for you, I’ll do it. Our conditions are not that great, but Jesus will open that door and we’ll make it”, said Bernadette. Bernadette, who is now retired, said that she will continue to encourage her son. “He’s going to get what he wants. He wants to be a neurologist. He has to study a lot. I have a boss who has a doctor son and she told me to encourage Venâncio. That’s what I do, I’m helping him with what I want. I can. He has a lot of willpower and I am also encouraging him to move forward”, said Venâncio’s mother. Health problem and choice of profession As a teenager, while attending high school, Venâncio began to feel numbness in his body and had some seizures. After some time came the news that he had a venous brain tumor. Initially, the young man underwent treatment with medication, but on a certain day, while going to another appointment, he had a stroke. After undergoing surgery and being admitted to the hospital, he was delighted with the work of the doctors. “Until I was 16 I was very indecisive about what I wanted to do and after discovering the disease I had a stroke when I was 17 or 18 years old. I saw very human doctors taking care of people and I said: this is what I want for my life”, Venancio remembered. Venâncio said that the next step is to enroll at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes) through the Unified Selection System (Sisu). While the answer does not come out, he plans what his future will be like. “The expectation is to be approved.
