The solemn session of the Senate of the Republic, on the morning of this Monday, 11th, entering the afternoon, in honor of Amapá’s 80th anniversary, recorded in the Annals of the National Congress the desire of the former federal territory and current state to be protagonists of its own development and also of the destinations of the Amazon region.

Tork recalled that in 2025 the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change will take place in Belém (COP 30), the preliminaries of which took place recently, in the capital of Pará, as the Amazon Summit and Amazon Dialogues, bringing together the governors of the Amazon, institutions from the region and representatives of the countries that form the Amazon geopolitical bloc.
The Tjap representative noted that Amapá is inserted in the scenario created to discuss the Amazon and that it cannot miss the opportunity to find paths for development, remaining firm in representing and valuing its people. “Discussions cannot forget the region’s 25 million inhabitants. We want to participate in discussions, we want to be protagonists”defended the judge Tork.
The governor Clécio Luís recalled that the history of Amapá, in fact, does not begin on September 13, 1943, but much earlier, occupied by its original indigenous peoples and later also by black people brought by the Portuguese, until then reaching the formation of federal territory.
“It is these people, we are the ones who are at the center of the world’s attractions at this moment, but we need to set the tone for what we want for our future. It’s worth celebrating, as we are celebrating now, in 20 years we will be celebrating our centenary. How do we want to get there? What society do we want? What people? What development?”questioned Clecio.
For the governor, as he also said at the ceremony, the people of Amapá must take advantage of this moment to align themselves with the rest of the country, counting on the leadership of the senators David Alcolumbre It is Randolfe Rodrigues. “We are in a special environment, which we cannot lose; not to subordinate itself, but to align itself with Brazil, being proud of our forests, our preservation, the fact that we are the first state to demarcate indigenous lands”he said Clecio.
Then, the governor said that Amapá is not to be seen as a sanctuary that impedes its development, but to dream of what is best for its children. “We are on another level in national politics; and we can’t stop anymore”he concluded.
