The Santana Summer 2023 sports schedule, this Sunday (16) in the rural community of Ilha de Santana, featured football for all tastes and types, in addition to sand volleyball, which had a good number of participants.
Several modalities were held, including field soccer (male and female), penalty shootout, beach soccer (sand soccer) and volleyball match in trio.
The extensive program began early in the morning on the Arena da Ilha de Santana field, located in the urban area of the locality. The teams Vila Real, Meninas do Elesbão, Ilha de Santana, Nobre and 15 de Novembro played seeking to qualify for the final phase of the dispute.

Recanto da Aldeia was the venue chosen for Beach Soccer, a penalty shootout tournament (doubles and singles), as well as sand volleyball. In this last modality, the trios provided a true show in terms of technical level, with matches decided on the details.
“The programming provided leisure, sport, fun and also money. I could see people selling their food, their products and also practicing some sport. Undoubtedly, this demonstrates that we have economic potential on our Island of Santana. And we will continue supporting events of this nature and encouraging entrepreneurship in the community”said the acting mayor, Isabel Nogueira.
Pedro Maciel, who was champion on the Santana team in beach volleyball in a trio, said that the technical level of the teams was surprising and suggested that more sand competitions be held to increasingly encourage the modalities.
“It was a very good competition, and everyone in the organization is to be congratulated. I think these sand sports have a lot of potential in Santana and I suggest that more competitions be held during the year. It is very important to promote the modalities”he said.
In beach soccer, the Nobre I team was the great champion in the women’s category. In the men’s category, Borussia got the better of Pinheirense and took first place. There was also the men’s double penalty shootout final. The winners received trophies, medals and a sum of money.
