Smorgasburg: the festival’s creative food and drinks – 07/21/2023 – Food

A choripán that comes inside a donut, a hamburger served on a ramen bun, a rainbow cheesecake and even a drink with popcorn sauce. This weekend, São Paulo residents will be able to taste these and hundreds of other inventive gastronomic options in the third edition of the Smorgasburg festival.

Born in 2011 in New York, where it takes place weekly, the event dedicated to creative gastronomy has spread to other capitals in the world, arriving in São Paulo in 2019, with a second edition already in the post-pandemic period, in 2022.

This year, in addition to an online waiting system so that no one wastes time queuing, Smorgas —for those who are intimate— also launches its own bar, run by mixologist Vitor Marino.

The SmorgasBar menu follows the creative vibe of the festival, with different drinks like the Pig da 5ª, with bacon and cigar smoke, and the Emily Roebling, with rum, elderflower liqueur and orange blossom perfume —the creation pays homage to the engineer responsible for completing the Brooklyn Bridge, in New York.

Before you go, it’s worth checking the schedule at the Smorgas Music Stage, which hosts different genres. On Saturday, highlights include reggae at sunset by Marley Nights and jazz by singer Lucille Berce, who also performs on Sunday.

To make the most of the festival, it’s worth going with a partner or in a group and making several orders to share, as many of the portions, such as El Burritogro, are quite generous and are worth a complete meal.
