The attacker Islam Slimani has not yet reappeared in the Coritiba. This stance has displeased Coxa’s board, which reportedly notified the center forward extrajudicially.
After Algeria’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations, Coritiba reportedly requested Slimani’s immediate return, but the striker did not respond, a situation that prompted the board to act. If the athlete does not return in the next few days, the club is considering imposing a penalty of contract termination for just cause and charging a termination fine. The information was released by journalist Nadja Mauad, from ge.com.

This last Wednesday (24), including, the journalist specializing in the football market, Fabrizio Romanoreported that Slimani could leave Coxa, as there would be a breach of contract clause to be activated from the end of January.
What is in the agreement, according to the OneTwo Sports, it is not an automatic release clause due to the drop to Series B. From January 31st, the Algerian’s salary drops to a level, a direct reflection of the relegation. Consequently, the termination fine also drops significantly, to almost half. In other words, this is the deadline for Coritiba to define the attacker’s situation.
If the 36-year-old Algerian’s intention is to leave Brazil, negotiation between the interested team and Coxa would be necessary. There is, however, an exception in the contract: the player can leave for free if the interested party is a European team.
Slimani’s signing by Coritiba was completed on August 20, 2023, with the status of SAF’s main reinforcement for the Brasileirão sequence. Three days later, he arrived with celebration at a large reception at Bacacheri Airport, but failed to avoid being dropped. In 11 games, he scored three goals and distributed two assists.
