Shooto Brasil 115 enshrines new champions

In its first edition of 2023, held last Friday (03) at the Upper Arena, in Rio de Janeiro, Shooto Brasil 115 consecrated two new champions. In the main event, Kleberson Tavares got the better of André “Bebessauro”, winning the heavyweight title with an overwhelming knockout.

André “Bebessauro” from Ceará started by taking the initiative, soon repelled by Kleberson Tavares, who with a spectacular sequence of three strikes managed a brutal knockout with 1 minute and 10 seconds of the first round. Having won the title of King of the Heavyweight of Shooto Brasil, Kleberson Tavares, at the age of 37, boasts eight wins in his 15 disputed bouts.

In the co-main event, Cleiver Fernandes overcame the previously undefeated Maurício Almeida and became the promotion’s bantamweight king. The dispute was in an electrifying fight. From the start, Cleiver went on the attack and Maurício, on the counterattack. In this tonic, Cleiver got the better of him, undermining his opponent with strong combinations, attacking the waistline, hitting him with strong kicks in the leg and taking away the opponent’s mobility. The definition of the fight came in the fifth round, with a perfect katagatame, forcing Maurício to give the three taps ending the fight. In addition to Shooto’s bantamweight belt, Cleiver, 27, has maintained a record of seven consecutive wins in his professional career.

Of the nine fights at the event, seven ended quickly, five still in the first round. The other highlights of the night were: José Henrique “Canela”, who with a knee to the face of Alan Silva “Abacaxi” defeated his opponent by knockout in the third round; Guilherme Doin, who also won by knockout, dispatching Samuel Silva in the opening round; and Marcelo Adur, who with a brutal flying knee knocked out Rodrigo “Muralha” in the first round of the fight.

Marcos Novais and Matheus Fonseca passed Jarlilson da Silva and Júlio César, respectively, by TKO in the first round; as well as Leonardo Cerboni who defeated Sirnande Junior, in a unanimous decision of the referees. Martin Camilo and José Heraldo tied the match.

Shooto Brasil returns this week in a special edition of Boxing this February 10th. Named “Shooto Boxe”, the event marks the debut in professional boxing of José Aldo Junior, against Argentine Emmanuel Zambrano. The show card will be studded with stars and will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
