Senator Romário (PL-RJ) was hospitalized, on Thursday night (13), at Barra D’Or Hospital, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, to treat an intestinal infection. According to the advisory of the parliamentarian, his condition is stable.
Romário’s team said they are still waiting for this morning’s medical bulletin. There is still no forecast for discharge for the senator.
Former athlete, Romário, 57, has diabetes and underwent bariatric surgery in 2017 to lessen the effects of the disease. The procedure is known as “sleeve gastrectomy with ileal interposition (GVII)”.
Elected for the first time to Congress in 2010, as a federal deputy, Romário is one of the greatest scorers in Brazilian football. With the nicknames “Peixe” and “Baixinho”, he was a center forward in the 1994 World Cup, in which Brazil won the title of four-time champion.
