Senator reveals alleged coup plan that would have articulation of Bolsonaro, says magazine

After defeat at the polls in October last year, then President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) would have devised, with deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ) and with an invitation made to Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES), a plan to try to annul the election and prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), in an attempted coup.

In messages obtained by Veja magazine, Marcos do Val reportedly told Minister Alexandre de Moraes, on December 12, that Silveira and Bolsonaro would have invited him to, according to him, participate in an “outlandish, immoral and even criminal” action.

Early this Thursday (2), Do Val announced that he will resign from office because of the alleged episode, citing the interview he gave to Veja.

In an action by the Federal Police (PF) that has nothing to do with the episode narrated by Do Val, Daniel Silveira was arrested this morning. After the revelation, the PF asked the STF for authorization to hear Do Val in testimony.

According to the senator’s statements to the magazine, it was Daniel Silveira who called him to talk about “an important matter” with Jair Bolsonaro. The meeting, in turn, would have been “unusual”, and the then deputy supposedly agreed with the senator to treat the meeting only by codes.

Daniel Silveira would have guided the parliamentarian on how to reach the destination without being seen. “I’ll send you my location, but you don’t go into Alvorada. And don’t even go near the entrance. You won’t show up. You’ll stop the car in the parking lot and I’ll send you the location. I’ll be there. car will come to pick us up. The boarding would have been made by a security car of the President of the Republic to Alvorada, with entry not registered at the entrance.

For 40 minutes, Do Val said he heard an idea that “would save Brazil”. Also according to him told Veja, the plan was to record the minister of the STF and president of the Superior Electoral Court and capture a dialogue that suggested an alleged intervention by Moraes during the election campaign.

Bolsonaro allegedly stated that the plan had already been agreed with the Institutional Security Office (GSI), the body responsible for the president’s security and which includes the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin). Do Val would have the necessary equipment to spy on the minister.

Without giving an answer, Do Val would have asked to think about it and, the following morning, he would have received a call from Silveira demanding a position. According to him, Do Val could rest assured that the “mission” was safe and that “not even Flávio will know”, referring to the president’s son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).

The senator told the magazine he did not respond. “I don’t know if you understood the magnitude of this action. It literally defines the future of the entire nation”, the deputy would have said, who reinforced so that the parliamentarian did not comment with anyone about the action: “if you accept the mission, paraphrasing 01, we saved Brazil”.

At the meeting with Alexandre de Moraes, Do Val allegedly told the details of the meeting with the president and about the proposal received. In response, the minister allegedly said “I don’t believe it”. On the same day, the senator would have declined participation with Daniel Silveira.

Those cited were sought by the magazine. In response, the now ex-deputy Daniel Silveira informed, through his lawyers, that he is prevented by the Justice from speaking with journalists. Alexandre de Moraes, also through his advisory, said he would not comment on the case. Senator Marcos do Val confirmed having participated in the meeting with the then president and admitted having heard the details of the plan – and decided to report it to Moraes.
