Veneziano Senator Vital do Rego (MDB-PB) read, this Thursday morning (15), his report on the nomination of lawyer Cristiano Zanin, made by President Lula (PT), for a vacancy on the STF (Federal Supreme Court ).
The reading of the report, within the scope of the CCJ (Commission on Constitution and Justice), is part of the regimental rite foreseen for the analysis of the nomination.
Next Wednesday (21), Zanin will be questioned by the collegiate senators. The committee then conducts a secret ballot. Afterwards, the decision passes to the plenary.
In recent days, Lula’s lawyer and friend has toured the Senate offices to get closer to parliamentarians and garner support even among evangelicals and opponents of the current government.
In his report, Veneziano highlighted the published articles and his 25-year career as a corporate, international, communication and electoral lawyer, in addition to “building and maintaining our constitutional jurisprudence, through the subscription of several Constitutional Claims, the order to enforce the authority of Supreme Court decisions”.
Finally, the senator writes that Zanin meets the prerequisites to occupy the vacancy. “Before the compilation, we understand that the Ladies and Gentlemen Senators who are members of the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission of the Federal Senate have enough and abundant elements to sign a convincing judgment on the nomination”, completes the report.
