Senator must decline invitation to chair the Ethics Council – 02/04/2023 – Panel
[ad_1]
Senator Jayme Campos (União-MT) declined the invitation to chair the Ethics Council of the Federal Senate. He had the sympathy of President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) to perform the function, for being a more experienced parliamentarian and with a discreet profile.
Precisely for this reason, Campos told interlocutors he preferred to stay away from the tribulations inherent to the function. Senators already defend the opening of proceedings against Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES), who reported coercion by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to try to carry out a coup d’état and later changed his version.
Campos has been the chairman of the Board since September 25, 2019, when the board met to elect him, along with Veneziano Vital (MDB-PB) as deputy. Since then, the body has never met again.
Leader of the União Brasil in the Senate, Efraim Filho (PB) said that he had not yet been informed of Jayme Campos’ decision and that he will wait for the Board of Directors to assess what the party’s new nomination will be.
