Senator Davi launches project on state energy potential – News of Brazil

This Monday morning, the 31st, in the Sebrae auditorium, the project ‘Offshore wind potential of the Brazilian Equatorial Margin and the energy potential of Amapá’ was launched. The initiative is a partnership of Senator David Alcolumbre, Senai-Santana, state government and Senai Institute of Innovation in Renewable Energy (ISI-ER).
“It is an extremely important moment for the development of our state and for the people of Amapá. This research project will evaluate the wind potential of the Equatorial Margin of our state and its wind and solar potential, which represents a big step towards the economic development of the state and to give more quality of life to the people of Amapá”said Senator David Alcolumbre, project author.
The Senai Institute of Renewable Energies, ISI-ER, based in Rio Grande do Norte, is considered Senai’s main Reference in Brazil, in terms of research, development and innovation in wind and solar energy and sustainability. Senator Davi visited ISI-ER with the intention of replicating the project in Amapá, which is starting to happen with a station for surveying the probable energy potential.
“We are happy for Amapá. We will have equipment installed measuring wind potential, wind speed, wind and solar energy quality every second, so that in the near future we can present an atlas for the private sector to be able to invest in Amapá. This was only possible through the initiative of Senator Davi”recognized the governor Clecio Louis.
besides the senator Davi Alcolumbre and the governor Clecio Luis, attended the ceremony at Sebrae the director of the Senai Institute of Renewable Energies, Rodrigo Mello; state secretaries, mayors and other authorities and political leaders of the state, Petrobras’ president, Jean Paul Prates, was also present, through a recorded video transmitted during the event. “We will do a lot through what is starting today”said, laconic, the head of Petrobras.
“The Amazon region has always been known for its diversity and for being a sustainable environment that has natural riches to present to society. Amapá brings an economic activity that is not present in the region, to add even more the sustainability aspect”declared Rodrigo Mello.
The idea of the project, also cited as a partnership between Senator Davi and the former Senator and current president of Petrobras. Jean Paul Prates, referring to wind energy, has existed since 2020, appearing moments after 13 of the 16 municipalities in Amapa were affected by the 22-day blackout, during the pandemic – it was the biggest blackout in the country’s history.
With the study on the wind potential, it will be easier to make investments throughout the Equatorial Margin and, mainly, in the state of Amapá. A publication of the Atlas of the Equatorial Margin is also in the pipeline, with delivery scheduled for the year 2024.
