Senate Ethics Council should judge acts of Randolfe Rodrigues

Ethics is not a word to trivialize, as they did with “lie” (fake news), democracy, genocide and many others. And lack of ethics is not to be left unnoticed, as if nothing had happened. Not in public life!

This Monday (6), the Second Opinion program debates the lack of ethics in politics, which has become the rule in the current government with several complaints against three ministers in just one month of government and has also proved to be a rule in the Legislative.

On the day of the vote for president of the Chamber and, especially, of the Senate, the cameras caught deplorable scenes, such as Randolfe Rodrigues’ mockery with the elections themselves or with the course of a Legislature co-opted by the give-and-take policy , which is back without any shame.

Perhaps because he was certain that the previous weeks’ agreements would guarantee the re-election of Lula’s ally, Rodrigo Pacheco, Randolfe had no qualms about demonstrating that his only concern was with the outcome of the senators’ pool.

Ethics Council for what?

Days after the senate president’s reelection session, marked by other cases of extreme lack of ethics, the same Randolfe Rodrigues carried out another unacceptable act from any citizen, let alone a senator of the Republic. He stole the cell phone of a youtuber who was questioning him about a tyrannical bill that intends to silence critics and opponents.

Theft is a crime, as typified in the Brazilian Penal Code, but in a certain way Randolfe thinks he is above the law and free from any investigation or trial, even if internal. After all, he ceased to be a mere representative of an inexpressive party and a noisy left to become Lula’s leader in the Senate.

This is the typical case for analysis by the Ethics Council and the opposition to Lula (and his histrionic leader) has already moved for this to happen. It is up to us, the voters, to monitor, charge and be justly indignant about such disregard for ethics. Without it, only barbarism remains.
