The special O Melhor de São Paulo Gastronomia – Restaurantes, Bares e Cuisine brings a selection of more than 900 places to eat and drink in the city, presented according to their specialty and with information about the neighborhoods in which they are located.

In addition to the selection, the project highlights winners elected by the specialized jury and highlights the opinion of city residents through a Datafolha survey, which draws up a list of the best addresses in São Paulo according to São Paulo residents.

IMKAY
The address fuses Peruvian and Japanese cuisines. The tuna sushi with seared marrow, finished with fermented honey (R$39 a pair) is one of the house’s classics. Another highlight on the menu is the tuna jamón carpaccio (R$64), slices of cured and smoked fish, with olive oil, concassé tomato marinated in rice vinegar and honey, figs and pupunha.

LA PERUANA CEVICHERIA
Peruvian chef Marisabel Woodman started out preparing typical food from her country at food fairs and today runs her own restaurant. Part of the menu is dedicated to ceviches, offered in seven options. The classic, with fish of the day marinated in lemon, coriander, pepper, red onion and tiger’s milk costs R$62 and is accompanied by burnt sweet potato slices and cancha chulpi, toasted corn.

LOS DOS TAQUERIA
The tacos are the star of the informal atmosphere. Customers can order at the counter and sit on chairs set out on the sidewalk. There are nine options, like the classic al pastor, prepared with pork marinated in spices and guava paste, roasted and cut into small chips, served with salsa verde, onion and cilantro on a corn tortilla (R$13).

MACONDO COLOMBIAN ROOTS
It has Colombian roots and is inspired by “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, a classic by Gabriel García Márquez —present in the name and decor. Born in that country, Jair Abril Rojas started selling delicacies at a street stall until he opened the restaurant in 2020. Try the arepa, a bread made from boiled and ground corn (R$8), and the paisa tray, made up of ten items, such as kidney beans, chorizo, sausage and avocado (R$53).

OSAKA NIKKEI
With units in South American countries and in the United States, the restaurant founded in Peru specializes in Nikkei cuisine, a fusion between Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. On the menu, there are ceviches (a tasting of three goes for R$89) and sushi like katsu —salmon belly grilled with truffle and masago (R$32 for a pair).

PERUVIAN RINCONCITO
The extensive menu of the Peruvian cuisine chain that was born in Brazil by the hands of Edgard Villar brings typical dishes from his homeland. Among them, ají de gallina, made with chicken breast wrapped in Peruvian yellow pepper cream, garnished with white rice, lettuce, egg and boiled potatoes (R$ 59.90). To share, the tip is the mixed chaufa rice, with meat, chicken, omelette, chives and soy sauce (R$ 58.90).

SURI
The cevicheria features 12 recipe options, as well as dishes from Latin American countries based on seafood. The section for starters to share brings suggestions such as the playero picadito, made with minced tuna with ginger, Sriracha pepper sauce, sweet chili and cilantro on top of patacones, fried discs and crunchy plantain (R$ 52.5 units). The arepas are stuffed with pulled pork ribs and guacamole, for R$37.

TAQUERIA LA SABROSA
After almost ten years on Rua Augusta, the Mexican house moved to Pinheiros, since the property it occupied was sold to a developer. The menu, faithful to the traditions of that country, is the same known by customers, consisting of tacos, burritos, quesadillas and tostadas. The taco adobado has marinated pork, pepper, pineapple, lemon and cilantro and salsa in a tortilla (R$ 26.50, two pieces).

TARAZ
Carioca Felipe Bronze, from the Pipo and Oro restaurants, presents a mix of South American flavors at this address inside the luxurious Rosewood hotel. The dishes, many of them grilled, are designed for sharing, such as the fish tiradito with corn, toasted corn emulsion and yellow pepper broth (R$70). A good choice is the scallop ceviche (R$ 125) with grapes, Sicilian lemon confit, Brazil nut milk.

CHÉVERE KITCHEN AND BAR
It serves food like empanadas, tacos, choripanes, patacones and arepas. To drink, there are varieties of drinks made with pisco, a typical Andean drink, such as the chilcano, which contains an alcoholic beverage, lemon juice, sugar syrup and ginger ale.

BOAR
Bar and kitchen serve dishes and drinks with a touch of sophistication. There’s ceviche with aji amarillo (R$40), a typical Peruvian pepper. The quetzal (R$40) is made with tiquira (a drink made from the fermentation of cassava), mead, cashew nuts and guaraná çapo.
