Athletico-PR, Atlético-MG, Corinthians, Internacional, Flamengo, Fluminense and Palmeiras met their opponents in the competition
Conmebol defined this Monday (27) the eight groups of the Libertadores of America, in a draw held at the organization’s headquarters, in Luque, Paraguay. The Brazilians in the competition are Athletico-PR, Atlético-MG, Corinthians, Internacional, Flamengo, Fluminense and Palmeiras.
Champion of 2022, Flamengo would already be in Group A and received opponents Racing, from Argentina, Aucas, from Ecuador, and Ñublense, from Chile. In Group B, Internacional faces Nacional, from Uruguay, Metropolitanos, from Venezuela, and Independiente Medellín, from Colombia.
In Group C, Palmeiras will play against Barcelona de Guayaquil, from Ecuador, Bolívar, from Bolivia, and Cerro Porteño, from Paraguay. In Group D, Fluminense was next to River Plate, from Argentina, The Strongest, from Bolivia, and Sporting Cristal, from Peru.
Corinthians was in Group E, alongside Independiente del Valle, the champion of the 2022 Copa Sudamericana, from Ecuador, Argentinos Juniors, from Argentina, and Liverpool, from Uruguay. Group G will have two Brazilians: Athletico-PR and Atlético-MG fell alongside Libertad, from Paraguay, and Alianza Lima, from Peru.
Teams in each group face each other on a home-and-away basis, with one match at home and one away. At the end of the six rounds, the first two advance to the round of 16 of the Libertadores of America, the third-placed play against the second-placed in the Sudamericana groups for a place in the round of 16 of the South, while the fourth-placed are out of international competitions.
