With classic destinations, such as Cartagena, Barcelona, ​​New York and Venice, and other less common destinations, such as Jeddah and Colón, Explora Journeys, a recently created MSC Group company, makes two new bets on the luxury cruise market: the Explora ships 1 and Explora 2. The total investment will be 3.5 billion euros – approximately R$ 18 million, according to the current exchange rate of the European currency – for a fleet of six vessels that are expected to be completed by 2028.

Explora 1’s maiden voyage in August marked the beginning of the 2023/2024 season, which passes through the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland and Greenland, heading to the east coast of the United States and Canada, as well as the Caribbean. Next, the ship moves on to itineraries in Europe and the Mediterranean during the summer in the northern hemisphere, together with Explora 2. The itineraries include longer stops so that passengers have time to explore experiences on the ground, including some overnight stays in Greece and Turkey, for example.

With ocean and river journeys around the world, the onboard programming offered by Explora Journeys does not follow a fixed schedule. Arrival and departure times at ports vary and are scheduled so that guests can enjoy the ship’s attractions, visit cities and rest during the trip.

Both cruises offer 461 suites, ranging from 35 square meters –Ocean Terrace category– to 280 square meters –Owner’s Residence–, which can be occupied by couples, small groups or families. When at maximum capacity, with approximately 920 travelers, the ratio of guests to crew is 1 to 1.25. Onboard services are available 24 hours a day.

The vessels have three outdoor pools, including one for adults only and another covered by a retractable glass roof, as well as 18 restaurants, bars and lounges. At Explora 1, everything is included, except one of the six restaurants, which, at the moment, is designed by Emma Bengtsson, chef at Aquavit, with two Michelin stars.

Trips are divided into four categories: Red Sea and Arabian Peninsula, Mediterranean and Western Europe, Caribbean and Central America and Pacific Coast of the United States, Canada and Hawaii. For trips lasting between six and 36 nights, tickets are available on the website and vary between R$18,000 and R$188,000.
