Federal public servants who are retired, pensioners or civil political amnesties must take proof of life annually.

They receive income through Siape (Integrated Human Resources Management System). The procedure is carried out to prove the identity of the beneficiary and ensure the continuity of payments.

The Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services announced, on Wednesday (4), that the test can now be completed through facial recognition on the SouGov.br application. Previously, the server needed to start the procedure in the app and finish it in another app, Gov.br.

See the options for servers to take the test and the step-by-step instructions for each one.

In-person proof of life

The server must go to the service desk of the people management unit of their public body.

Another option is to go to a branch of the bank where you receive your benefit. The server must go in person and bring an official document with a photo (identity card or CNH) and CPF.

Digital proof of life

You must have biometrics registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) or Senatran (National Traffic Secretariat) for facial recognition to be carried out. The SouGov.br application is only intended for federal employees and provides proof of life.

Through the app, public employees can also make requests related to benefits such as funeral allowance, pension and transportation allowance, for example. Although there is a SouGov.br website, the desktop version does not allow proof of life.

The procedure is similar to the INSS digital proof of life. To re-register in the app, the server must:

  1. Download the SouGov.br app, available for download for Android (in this link) and for iOS (in this link);
  2. To log in to the application, simply access your Gov.br account details. If you don’t have one, the Sheet taught how to create an account to access federal government services and benefits;
  3. After logging into the app, you can search for the “Proof of life” function on the home page or in the side options menu;
  4. The application will indicate the status of your proof of life:
    • Regular: you took the test and it is valid until the stated deadline;
    • Pending: you are within the three-month period to carry out the life test. Just click on the “Perform Life Test” button to start the procedure;
    • Overdue: you have exceeded the three-month period to take the test, but it is possible to do the procedure anyway — click on “Take Life Test”;
  5. After clicking on “Perform Life Test”, read the tips carefully and click on “Perform facial recognition”;
  6. The app will show you a frame and you will need to frame your face in it using your smartphone’s front camera. Your hair should not cover your face;
  7. After framing your face in the image, click on the take photo button (white dot) to perform facial recognition;
  8. Your image will be registered. If the biometrics are validated, the message “Facial recognition carried out successfully” will be displayed;
  9. To check the status of your proof of life, simply click on “Check Status”;
  10. If the message “It was not possible to validate your facial biometrics. Follow the instructions on how to perform the proof of life” appears, you will need to try again;
  11. If you exceed a number of attempts, the message “Number of daily attempts exceeded. For security reasons, please try again after 24 hours” will be displayed;
  12. Returning to the “Proof of Life” menu, by clicking on the word “File”, in the “Proof” area, you will download a document that proves that the procedure was carried out.
