The color of summer in Los Angeles is undoubtedly pink. Not because of the pink spring flowers that color the Hollywood hills, but because of the multiplication of posters and marketing actions to promote the movie “Barbie”, starring Margot Robbie, which opens in Brazil on July 20th.

The most recent event, captured by a TV helicopter flying over Malibu beach, is an all-pink mansion dubbed the “Barbie Dream House” as if it were a real-life version of Barbie’s popular playhouses.

At the end of last month, the report visited the place, which belongs to a real estate entrepreneur who lives on the property and declined to be interviewed. The three-story, 4,500-square-foot home was partially transformed by Airbnb, which will rent out the space for free around the time of the film’s release in late July.

Only one of the four rooms will be available, facing the infinity pool and decorated as if it were Ken, Barbie’s companion doll, played by Ryan Gosling in the film. “No, he won’t surprise you,” warned an Airbnb employee, dressed in a pink overall, on an informal tour of the house.

Guests will be able to take advantage of Ken’s wardrobe, filled with clothing similar to what Gosling wore in the film, such as a black cowboy shirt and a pink crocheted vest. The motorcycle parked in the hallway on the second floor is just decoration. The food on the barbecue is a toy, as is the slide that leads into a fake pool.

Up close, you can see that the house wasn’t exactly painted pink, but it had fabrics in the color installed on the roof. The floor received a pink and silver fake grass.

Built in 2007 and valued at US$ 5 million (R$ 24 million), the mansion in Malibu participated in a similar action in 2019, when the Mattel doll, a Californian company, turned 60.

Airbnb will open two reservations for the house, each for one night only and for two people, on July 21st and 22nd. Reservations open on the 17th, at 2 pm (Brasília time). Whoever is quickest on the trigger to make the reservation, Ken Cowboy style, wins free accommodation here.

But calm down, there is another opportunity in Los Angeles with even more fake and plasticized scenes from the Barbie universe to take lots of pictures. It is the interactive exhibition “Mundo da Barbie”, which imitates the doll’s house, including a ball pit.

The space has created activities for adults, with drinks sold in the evening on certain days of the week and a team of Paul Mitchell hairdressers to create hairstyles in 20-minute sessions. The show is on display until September 4 and costs from R$ 164.

If none of the options is your genre, the city of Los Angeles and its surroundings are the scene of several scenes of “Barbie”. In the movie, the doll leaves the perfect toy world to venture into the real world.

From the available trailers, you can see Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in character skating on the Santa Monica boardwalk, shopping for trinkets on Venice Beach and getting their fingerprints taken at a police station. This last “experience”, of course, is best avoided.
