Scientific exhibition promotes popularization of science in Codajás

Codajás (AM) – In the municipality of Codajás (240 kilometers from Manaus) the 1st Innovation, Technology and Science Exhibition in the Amazon (Mitecam) will take place between the 16th and 20th of November. The event supported by the Government of Amazonas, through the Amazonas State Research Support Foundation (Fapeam), will be held at the Centro Educacional de Tempo Integral José de Araújo Rodrigues, from 8am to 4pm, and seeks to promote a space for dissemination and popularization of science in the interior of Amazonas.
Supported by Fapeam’s Support Program for the Popularization of Science, Technology and Innovation (POP CT&I), the activity is open to the public and will feature workshops and lectures on entrepreneurship in the Amazon, sustainability and innovation, environmental education in teaching, animal origami of regional fauna, memory game of everyday plants, garden of sensations and appreciation of women in science.
The event coordinator, professor Elzilene Araújo, highlights that during the event there will also be an exhibition of science projects, a cultural night, with dance, poetry and theater plays.
“The aim is to popularize scientific knowledge and science education within the scope of innovation, technology, science and sustainable development in secondary education, providing an incentive for the production and presentation of scientific projects”,
Elzilene added.
According to the teacher, the initiative seeks to develop interactive activities that promote the dissemination and manifestation of scientific knowledge by connecting different areas of Science, through the insertion of the importance of environmental education and citizenship in the school environment and in the community regarding knowledge: cultural, scientific and popular approach to building knowledge.
Pop CT&I
The Support Program for the Popularization of Science, Technology and Innovation – POP CT&I aims to encourage and support the holding of Science Popularization events, in person, virtual or hybrid modalities, primarily in the interior of Amazonas, through financing production and distribution of educational materials to democratize the production of knowledge in Science, Technology and Innovation (CT&I), strengthen the Science and Technology Week, and the Amazonas Public CT&I Policy itself.
