Coari (AM) – Students from the Professor Manuel Vicente Ferreira Lima Full Time Educational Center (Ceti), in Coari (363 kilometers from Manaus), are participating in the “School Journalism” Course. The initiative’s main objective is to develop students’ skills, improving reading, writing and text interpretation.
Conceived by Professor Jair Ferreira de Paula, the course was conceived a few years ago, but it was only this year that it was put into practice at the school.
“The ‘Jornalismo na Escola’ project is extracurricular and allows students to develop skills that are important in their training, such as improving writing, reading and text interpretation; in addition to working on the student’s shyness and oratory for academic life and, mainly, creating ties between the school and the school community”,
highlighted the teacher.
Participating students develop course activities in the school’s computer lab, during break times, with video lessons, assessment activities and, at the end, receive a certificate.
The school community embraced the project in all editions, even joining the Student Union. Currently, the students who participate in the project discuss the subjects on the agenda every Friday, bringing current topics and school events, in addition to adding topics related to their daily lives.
In addition to involving students, the project brings important concepts to students such as responsibility, organization, discipline and commitment.
Student Rafael Silva de Araújo said that the project will bring a positive view of the school, recognizing Ceti for its good deeds, in addition to helping it in external evaluations such as the Continued Selection Process (PSC) of the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam), National High School (Enem) and Serial Admission System (SIS), from the University of the State of Amazonas (UEA).
