An important advance was made in the promotion of child health in the municipality of Santana with the sanction of Law No. 1,462/2023, which establishes a series of strategies to combat diabetes and childhood obesity throughout the municipal education network, covering both public schools and private schools.

The law, authored by the president of the City Council, Josivaldo Abrantes, puts into practice a program that aims to train school teaching staff to incorporate teaching methodologies that encourage healthy eating habits and regular physical exercise into children’s routines. and teenagers.

It establishes the program to combat diabetes and childhood obesity in schools in our city. This represents an incentive and determination for schools to take care of the health of our children. School is the ideal environment for these children and their parents to receive appropriate guidance on the treatment of these diseases. The parliamentarian expressed his satisfaction with the sanction of the Law, which was drawn up with the purpose of providing a better quality of life for children in the municipality.

“On behalf of the legislative branch, since all councilors approved it, and on behalf of the entire population of Santana, I would like to thank the mayor for sanctioning this Law. I hope it can really benefit our children and provide a better quality of life for them”said councilor Abrantes.

The law establishes the joint action of the municipal health and education departments, with the provision of nutritionists and health professionals in schools, in order to carry out preventive exams and monitor the health situation in Basic Health Units and Health Systems.
